Veho, which has a platform for package deliveries and returns, announced Oct. 31 that Austin is the site of its second flagship office — it says its first is in New York City — and that its CEO, Itamar Zur, has moved here. The office is at 823 Congress Ave.
“As Veho accelerates building the technology that’s transforming the logistics industry, Austin’s talent, quality of life and central location are the perfect choice for a new flagship office as we expand across America,” Zur said in a statement.
The company seemingly has plenty of room to grow across the country, since the only state located west of Texas that it currently operates in is Colorado. According to the company, it is in 46 markets now and has about 800 employees and 70,000 "independent driver-partners.”
Despite its incorporation in Delaware and its initial flagship office in New York, the company said its hiring efforts will be focused on Austin and Central Texas going forward. The company is a “remote-first” workplace — meaning most of its employees can work from anywhere — but its Austin office will be used for in-person meetings and other corporate activities, a Veho spokesperson said.
Veho, which has operated in Texas for five years, has a regional sorting facility in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and has delivery operations in the Austin, San Antonio, Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth metro areas. In Austin, the company's delivery facility is near The Domain.
It estimates that it has helped complete over 10 million deliveries in Texas and contributed $30 million to the state’s economy.
The company didn’t provide specifics on its hiring timeline or how many people it will employ in the Austin area.
